When does the event start and how long does it last?
Rail of Lights starts on November 26, 2009 and runs every Thursday through Sunday evening until December 31st. There will be no train on Nov 29th.  The New Year's Train runs Thursday, December 31, 2009 and Friday, January 1, 2009.

Where do I board the train?
You board the train at The Historical Jefferson Railway Depot at 400 East Austin Street.


What time does the Depot open?
The depot will be open Thursday through Sunday from noon until 4:00pm and New Year's Eve day from noon until 4:00pm.

Does parking cost anything?
No, we have free parking accross from the depot.

If I order tickets on-line, will they be mailed to me?
Tickets purchased on our website are e-mailed to you once you complete the checkout process.  At the top of your confirmation e-mail it says "These are your Tickets".  Print this e-mail and bring it with you to the will call booth and get your boarding passes. If you are unable to print this for any reason, your name will be at will call. You can pick up your tickets with proper ID.

Can I get tickets by phone or at the Box Office?
Yes.  Phone orders are not reservations, but purchases to be picked up at will-call.  You will need a valid credit card to complete a phone order.  There is a $2.00 per ticket handling charge for all phone orders.  Call 866-398-2038 for more details.

What is the Rail of Lights Train?
The decorated historic railroad depot, complete with a live Santa Claus, captures the holiday spirit. It’s a 5 mile long narrated tour, with a local vocalist, who will also give patrons an opportunity to sing some of their favorite Christmas Carols as they create unique Christmas memories riding along the river. This year “Santa Around the Globe” comes alive. Hear the history of Santa Claus and his many characters around the world.

What is the New Year's Train?
Ring in the New Year with the Rail of Lights New Year’s Train running on December 31 and January 1. This 5 mile long ride will feature the dropping of the ball in Times Square, complete with beverages, noisemakers and a fantastic fire works show on every train ride.

How long do the Rail of Lights and New Year's Train take?
The rides take about 45 minutes.

Do babies need a ticket?
Children 2 years and under do not need a ticket as long as they ride on your lap.

When is a good time to board the train?
If you buy your tickets online, you need to be IN LINE 30-45 minutes PRIOR to the departure time of your scheduled train. If your tickets have not been redeemed for boarding passes 30 minutes before the train is supposed to leave, they will be re-sold to our stand-by customers. Be sure to allow plenty of time to park your car, and to get your boarding passes before you head to the train.

Are alcoholic beverages allowed on the premises?
No.  Nor are public intoxication, drugs or weapons allowed.

Are there concessions available for purchase at the depot?
Yes.
